After three days of action in Belgrade at the last qualifying Adidas Next Generation Tournament- Serbian team Mega Bemax advanced to the ANGT Final8 tournament in Vitoria. Mega Bemax won the final game against host team KK Crvena Zvezda and took their second ANGT title in history of the club. Their forward- Aleksandar Langovic was the MVP of the tournament and member of All Tournament team, too.
All Tournament Team:
Davide Casarin- Umana Reyer Venezia
Nemanja Popović- KK Crvena Zvezda
Djordje Topolović- OKK Spars
Aleksej Pokuševski- Olympiacos
Aleksandar Langović- KK Mega Bemax
LANGOVIĆ Aleksandar- ’01, 6’9, PF, KK Mega Bemax
Well sized forward was the MVP of the tournament and member of All Tournament team. He averaged 13.8ppg and 9rpg for only bit more than 22 minutes per game. Langovic was expected to be leader of his team and he did it in right way, proving that he is the biggest prospect coming out of his team. Left handed big guy was dominant in the paint on both sides of the floor. Offensivelly, he doesn’t complicate too much inside. Relies on his athletic advantages mostly and finishes in 90% of cases with his stronger hand. Regardless not being finesse type of big and not being able to finish with both hands, he is very sure finisher above the rim, goes for the dunk every time when possible. Showed sights of improved post skillset, but it still has room to be more versatile. Still struggles with 3p shot, had only 20%(2/10) on the tournament. Defensivelly, made his presence felt in the paint, light on his feet, has solid vertical and length which helps him being a good rim protector in perspective. Body is getting even better, upper part became tougher and stronger so he had no problem guarding other bigs on this tournament. Lefty forward was good on rebounding part, had few grab and go situations, showed that he can put the ball on the floor. Had the best game in the final, scored 18 points(7/13 FG) and grabbed 11 rebounds. Clearly, one of few top prospects coming out of this tournament, despite the fact that tournament level was really low.
POPOVIĆ Nemanja- ’01, 6’8, PF, KK Crvena Zvezda
6’8 forward averaged 13.3ppg, 7.5rpg and 2.8apg for 25mpg on this tournament and made it to the All Tournament team. Had very solid tournament, knowing that he came back from BWB Global camp only few days before start of the tournament. Length, high basketball IQ and talent he has are his biggest asset at the moment and he uses them in right way. Has ability to play in and out, even though he is still bigger threat attacking from low post. Very skilled and polished down low, finishes above the rim with either hand. Can drive from perimeter when guarded by slower bigs, has long first step and good ball control for his size. Good close range shooter, even hit few floaters on this tournament. Long range shot is still in slow progress but shot mechanics has improved. Body still can be stronger, got pushed inside when guarded post players few times. Very mobile for his size, can even run the floor as a wing, but also has ability to push the ball right after he grabs the rebound. First game of the tournament was his best one. Scored 18pts and led his team, alongside Masic, to a win vs Olympiacos.
POKUŠEVSKI Aleksej- ’01, 6’11, SF, Olympiacos
Number one name and the most unique player from this tournament, without any doubt. 6’11 all around forward was member of All Tournament team averaging 15.8ppg, 7rpg, 3.5bpg and 2.5apg in 26 minutes per game.. Pokuševski is a go to guy that led his team to a third place on this ANGT. Has great mixture of high level mobility, elite size and length but also playmaking skills and ability to shoot the ball. Offensivelly, was everywhere for his team. Grab and go guy, scored a lot of points in transition right after grabbing rebounds. Can drive by his defenders when driving from perimeter thanks to very long first step and ballhandling skills. Uses his length to finish in the traffic and in contact. Not really active when plays without the ball, but shoots well off the screens and when spotted, too. Has still room to work on off the dribble jumper, but overall has way better shot than other 6’11 players. Great passer for his size, finds open shooters and players cutting inside. Defensively, very smartly uses his long arms to steal the ball and block shots. Pokuševski has unquestionable talent and probably biggest potential comparing to other players from this tournament, but his body language and energy level are problems. Didn’t seem as a real team player. Showed no wish to play defense and run back in more than few cases. As it was said before tournament level was low, so he managed to put good defenisve numbers. Body is still thin, but it should get stronger in future.
MAŠIĆ Vukašin- ’01, 6’3, PG, KK Crvena Zvezda
The biggest positive surprise from this ANGT. Started off tournament in the best possible way, scored 29 points vs Olympiacos, shooting 11/11 from the field. Ended tournament averaging 15ppg and 4.5apg for 23 mins on the court coming off the bench. Mašić is a PG with tireless motor, brought a lot of energy and aggressiveness on both ends every time he entered the court. Very quick guard who changes pace very well. Good 3p shooter off the catch and mid range hitter off the dribble and PnR. Not the best driver to the hoop, but can blow by his defenders thanks to quick first step. Skilled and versatile finisher in the paint regardless size limit, scored few floaters, short range shots, eurosteps and off hand layups. On defensive end, has ability to lockdown ballhandlers, had big impact in team defense, was active on helpside.
ANDRIĆ Marko- ’02, 6’2, PG, Mega Bemax
Underaged PG had huge role in title winning team on this ANGT. Had 12.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 2apg. Played very well in the final game, scored 13 pts, including 3 long range shots, which is not really common for him. In first game vs Olimpija scored 17 pts with 8/8 2p shot in only 20 minutes on the court. Andric is a very aggressive player with above average level of athleticism. Brought ton of energy and toughness as a backup PG. Good straight line driver, has strong and quick enough first step, speically when goes right. Not a finesse type of ballhandler, but sure enough with the ball in his hands. Good defensive player, has quick hands, can play aggressivelly on ball defense. Lack of size is an issue for higher level.
