6’11” tall Gonzaga forward is top prospect not only in Serbia, but also in Europe. Thanks to his solid mid and long range shot has ability to stretch defense. Soft touch around the rim and post skillset makes him decent post up player. Improved body strength so he can’t get pushed out of the paint that easily. Petrušev has room to improve 1vs1 defense. Despite that, has good feeling for shot blocking, even though he has average vertical leap. Has high basketball IQ, reads the game on high level, has solid passing abilities. Good team player. Filip was ranked #52 in ESPN TOP100 in his class and #5 in his position ranking in his senior HS year. Won EC titles with u18 NT in 2017 and 2018. Was member of all tournament team in 2018. If he keeps improving might be first round pick in few years.

Serbian players on March Madness:
In his freshman season Petrušev is having a role of back up center who can stretch the floor and shoot from outside and he has been doing pretty well so far. Has done great job in the paint with rebounding and blocking shots on defensive end. Plays really good on the low post in offense, thanks to his excellent post skillset. Improved his shooting, rarely misses when he is taking mid range shots. Solid 3-pt shooter, looks like he will be able to make 3-point shots when he gets more room for it in the game. Has troubles in defense when switches on quicker guards, but mostly covers the paint well.. In 11.6 minutes per game he is averaging 6.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.5 blocks.
NCAA D1 2018/19:
Top prospect of ‘00 generation will play for Gonzaga University this season. Petrusev had successful summer, won back to back European Championship with Serbia u18 NT and was selected in All-tournament team. Averaged 21 pts, 8.7 rbd and 1.3 blk- which made him third scorer and rebounder of the tournament. Also had excellent season with MontVerde Academy, won National HS Championship and played important role in team. Zag’s big man is real force in the paint with excellent skillset who can also score from outside. With his game he should fit in with team fast. It will be interesting to see him fighting for his minutes in freshman season.
U18 European championship 2018 preview:
Gonzaga bound big was a constant as a second best scorer in recent NT friendlies. Had very good season with Montverde team that has won national HS title in the USA. This EC will be his 4th competition for Serbia. Petrusev has also played on last summer’s EC when Serbia won gold medal so fitting in the team won’t be an issue for him. Filip is one of the most versatile forwards in the country, which puts him on #1 spot on ’00 ranking. Talented 6’10” forward is expected to be one of the leaders of this team thanks to offensive skillset, size and scoring abilities he has.
